Trump explained Russia’s exit from the G8

President of the United States Donald Trump explained Russia’s exit from the G8.
“It’s funny to see how corrupt Joe Biden reads a statement about Russia, which, obviously, was written by his curators. Russia was so big on him and [Barack] Obama when they were in power that Obama wanted them to get out of the then G8. “The US was weak in everything, but especially in regard to Russia!” – Trump wrote on his Twitter.

Earlier, former US Vice President Joseph Biden called on Trump not to invite Russia to the G7 summit.

Recall that at the end of May, Trump decided to invite Russia, India, Australia and South Korea to the G7 summit. In August last year, Trump advocated the return of Russia to the G8. Later, the White House said that the invitation of Russia to the G7 summit in the United States in 2020 could be an intermediate step towards restoring the G8 format. However, in early December 2019, US congressmen voted against Russia’s participation in the G7 summits.

After that, the Foreign Ministry announced the disappearance of Russia’s desire to join the G7.

At the same time, the Kremlin noted that returning to the G8 is not an end in itself for Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin said he was not opposed to restoring the G8 format, but stated that the era of the West was drawing to a close.
