President Donald Trump has signed an additional order that will severely limit US immigration.
The President approved a regulation that significantly expands current immigration restrictions and includes a number of programs for foreign workers, including the H-1B visa. According to the administration, this will give Americans the opportunity to be the first to apply for jobs in an economy affected by the coronavirus.
Trump previously signed an order that limited some green cards, but did not allow restricting guest workers’ programs. Now the issuance of new H-1B work visas, visas for seasonal H-2B workers, certain specialists and educational visas for exchange visits, as well as representative visas, has also been suspended. According to Fox News, restrictions will remain in force until the end of the year, but will not affect those who already have a visa.
