In January 2021, Donald Trump must transfer power to the new US President Joe Biden. However, more than 15 criminal cases are connected with the 45th president. At the end of the cadence, Donald Trump will face at least 6 lawsuits.
Financial issues of the Trump company’s activities
The Manhattan District Attorney’s office is actively studying the financial issues of the activities of the Organization of Donald Trump. Previously, this case was supervised by lawyer Cyrus Vance Jr. Investigative authorities were interested in several possible cash payments made in the run-up to the 2016 election by then-Trump supporter Michael Cohen to women who claimed they had an extramarital relationship with Trump.
Cohen himself told Congress under oath in 2019 that he did not remember “a single case” of paying such compensation.
However, investigators are conducting a broader investigation. According to the publication, the investigation can check whether the president and his company were engaged in bank fraud, insurance fraud, criminal tax fraud and falsification of business records.
Trump’s asset valuation
From Cohen’s testimony, it is known that Trump, along with members of his family, allegedly repeatedly “overestimated his total assets when it was profitable for him, for example, trying to get into the list of the richest people in Forbes, and underestimated his assets in order to reduce property taxes.” Prosecutor Letitia James said she will investigate these facts for fraud. Last month, the president’s son Eric Trump was questioned under oath about whether he or Trump’s company sought to artificially increase and reduce its assets.
Remuneration from foreign governments
This lawsuit was filed back in 2017, but before the US elections, it became more relevant. Investigators will investigate violations of the Constitution by Donald Trump when he received remuneration from foreign governments that paid for services at his hotels and golf clubs.
The lawsuit was appealed by Trump, but is still under consideration.
The next trial that awaits Trump after the end of the cadence will be Gina Carroll’s libel suit. A few days before the 2020 election, a federal judge rejected Trump’s attempt, represented by Justice Department lawyers, to close a case brought by Carroll alleging that Trump raped her in the 1990s. Now the case is being conducted by specialists of the federal judicial system.
Summer Zervos Lawsuit
In 2007, Summer Zervos, after participating in Trump’s TV show “The Apprentice”, got into trouble. Trump invited her allegedly to discuss a possible job, but tried to rape her in a hotel room.
An American woman filed a lawsuit against US President-elect Donald Trump to protect her honor and dignity. The statement alleges that Trump used his position to humiliate Zervos and other women who accused him of sexual harassment.
At the end of 2019, Trump lost the court to terminate the case. However, the trial was stopped until the end of Trump’s cadence.
Mary Trump’s Lawsuit
The president’s niece and author of the best-selling book “too much and never enough: how my family created the most dangerous man in the world” sued Trump in September, claiming that he, his sister and his late brother committed fraud to prevent her from receiving a proper portion of the inheritance of Trump’s father, Fred Sr.
In addition to these court cases, there are about a dozen others. However, it is impossible to predict whether any of them will become a real threat to the politician.
