Incumbent U.S. President Donald Trump left a letter to his successor Joe Biden in the Oval Office.
In doing so, Trump fulfilled at least one of the presidential traditions of handing over power to a successor. The White House declined to disclose the contents of the memo.
Earlier, Trump refused to attend Biden’s inauguration ceremony, breaking a 150-year-old tradition, and left Washington hours before the festivities. In his place, outgoing Vice President Mike Pence will attend the event.
Trump has already arrived in Florida and headed to his Mar-a-Lago residence. The media reported that the politician intends to keep some White House staff in his employ even after the end of his term in office. It was noted that Trump’s neighbors in Florida oppose his move to Mar-a-Lago for permanent residence and are trying to prevent it.
