Trump signs interim budget to avoid 'shutdown'

The document was needed to keep the government from shutting down.

US President Donald Trump has signed an interim budget which will remain in force until 18 December and will avoid a “shutdown” – a halt in funding for government agencies, the White House said.

As reported, the US Senate on Friday voted in favour of the defence budget bill for the fiscal year 2021.

There was overwhelming support for the bill from senators.

Earlier this week, the bill was also supported by the US House of Representatives, so the bill received the approval of the entire US Congress on Friday after the Senate vote.
