Chaos erupted in Washington DC on Saturday night, hours after two rallies by supporters of US President Donald Trump ended. They clashed with his opponents, leaving four injured and 23 arrested.
According to the Washington Post, at least four people were stabbed outside a bar that served as a gathering place for Trump’s Proud Boys supporters. The injuries could be life-threatening, a D.C. rescue official told the newspaper.
The report said it was not yet clear which groups the attackers and victims were affiliated with.
As of 9pm Saturday, 23 people had been arrested, 10 charged with assault, six with assaulting a police officer and four with disorderly conduct, FOX 5 reported. One suspect was in possession of an illegal stun gun.
The report also said that at least two DC police officers were hospitalised with moderate injuries.
