Trump threatened to retaliate “a thousand times stronger” on any Iranian attack

US President Donald Trump tweeted that any aggression from Iran will be met with a response “1000 times larger.” So the American leader commented on an article in Politico. The material claimed that Tehran is considering the possibility of an attempt on the life of Lana Marks, the US ambassador to South Africa. US officials were allegedly aware of the threats against the ambassador since spring.

66-year-old Marx became the American ambassador to South Africa last October. She has been an associate of Trump for over two decades and a member of his gated luxury golf club, Mar-a-Lago, Florida.

A US intelligence source told Fox News that the US intelligence community is serious about the threat against the ambassador and believes that the Islamic Republic was planning a conspiracy to assassinate Marx. According to the source, Tehran is considering several US officials as “targets of retaliation” for the assassination of General Hasem Soleimani in January this year. Iran has denied these reports.

At the end of last year, Trump said the US would hunt down its enemies anywhere in the world. Suleimani led the Quds Force, a unit of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) that oversees much of Iran’s military operations outside the country. After the assassination of Soleimani, the head of the White House claimed that the Iranian general was planning attacks on American diplomatic missions, although later US officials questioned the American president’s claims.
