US President Donald Trump has confirmed his intention to limit the issuance of work visas for foreign citizens, according to Fox News.
“We’re going to announce something about visas tomorrow or the day after tomorrow,” Trump said. According to him, such a decision “will make many people happy.”
In response to a question about whether there would be any exceptions to the new visa rules, the president said that there would be very few. He also explained that they will be needed only for a large business, where there are certain people who come for a long time. However, there will be very few exceptions, and they will be “pretty tough,” the American president added.
When asked about the details of the announcement, Trump noted that the Americans would be pleased with the results.
On April 22, Trump signed a decree that temporarily bans US immigration due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the country’s economy. According to the American leader, such a measure is aimed at protecting American workers. In addition, limiting immigration will help preserve health resources, Trump added. The order was to last 60 days. Later, one of the key advisers to the head of state, Stephen Miller, said that a temporary ban on immigration to the country for some categories could become permanent.
