Trump will wait for Biden's inauguration to announce plans for 2024

U.S. President Donald Trump will not be announcing his plans to run for president in 2024 anytime soon, the website Axios reported, citing knowledgeable sources.

Trump does not want to announce his plans to run in the next election until Jan. 20, the day President-elect Joe Biden is inaugurated, sources who have discussed the matter with the president clarified.

According to them, if Trump announces his plans before inauguration day, he will show that he has given up the fight to overturn the election results.

One source noted that while Trump definitely wants to keep the option of running for president in 2024, he’s not sure he wants to go through the formal process required by the U.S. Federal Election Commission anytime soon.

Democratic U.S. presidential candidate Biden won the November 3 presidential election, the results of the electoral college vote show. According to the U.S. Constitution, the results of the electoral college vote must be approved by Congress on January 6.

The incumbent President Trump still does not concede defeat and will continue to try to challenge the election results through the courts.
