A magnitude 8.2 earthquake struck off the coast of Alaska Wednesday evening, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The quake struck 91 kilometers southeast of Perryville at 10:15 p.m. local time, the Geological Survey said.

Perryville is a small village about 800 kilometers from Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city.

The US government’s National Tsunami Warning Center immediately issued a tsunami warning for southern Alaska, the Alaska Peninsula, and Hawaii.
