The US Senate Profile Committee on Thursday voted to send subpoenas to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey following social media’s decision to block the New York Post’s publication of the son of presidential candidate Joe Biden.
According to the vote, 12 Republicans voted in favor. The Democrats were not present in the hall, as they decided to boycott the vote on the candidacy of Amy Barrett to the US Supreme Court, which is being held on the same day.
Last week, the New York Post published a series of materials based on correspondence allegedly found on Hunter Biden’s laptop, which was found in a repair shop in Delaware. The owner of the workshop made a copy of his hard drive, which was given to Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York and personal lawyer of US President Donald Trump. Giuliani later transmitted electronic materials to the media.
In an email published by the newspaper, allegedly sent to Biden Jr. by Vadim Pozharsky, advisor to the management of the Ukrainian energy company Burisma, he thanks him for meeting with Biden Sr. In another letter, Pozharsky asks Biden Jr. to think about how he can “use his influence” to help the company. These revelations contradict Joe Biden’s claims that he had nothing to do with his son’s work at Burisma.
It was reported that the FBI had already seized the laptop and hard drive on a grand jury warrant.
Hunter Biden worked as an advisor to Burisma’s management, earning up to $ 50,000 a month for this. Trump supporters suspect Biden Jr. used his father for lobbying work. In addition, they suspect Biden Sr. of putting pressure on the Ukrainian authorities to dismiss Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin, who was investigating Burisma. Joe Biden denies all of this. Democrats called the publication a Kremlin campaign.
