The number of new cases of coronavirus in Florida exceeds 2000 for the second day in a row after the state lifted strict quarantine restrictions.

The State Department of Health reports 2,016 new cases on Sunday; on Saturday, the number of new infections was 2,581. For 12 days in the state, the daily number of patients with COVID-19 exceeds one thousand. During the pandemic in Florida, 2931 people died from coronavirus.

Governor Ron DeSantis said the massive increase in cases was caused by increased testing. According to him, the majority of newly identified patients are people from 25 to 45 years old who are not at risk of a severe form of the virus.
