Two officials in North Korea sentenced to death

DPRK authorities sentenced to death two officials who violated quarantine restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

For example, according to representatives of the National Intelligence Agency of South Korea, one of the officials was killed for importing banned goods into the country under conditions of enhanced border control due to the COVID-19 epidemic. This was reported by AP.

The second official was executed in connection with fraud in currency exchange operations.

In addition, intelligence officials from South Korea report that as a result of the economic crisis that has engulfed North Korea as a result of border closures and the COVID-19 pandemic, DPRK leader Kim Jong-un has raised commodity prices and reduced industrial production.

North Korean authorities also issued a decree banning fishing and salt production.

According to Reuters, hackers from North Korea also carried out a cyber attack on the resources of the British-Swedish pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, which is developing a vaccine against COVID-19.

The hackers passed themselves off as recruiters and sent fake job offers to AstraZeneca employees through the LinkedIn and WhatsApp business social network.
