A temporary ban on the importation of dogs into the U.S. came into effect due to the risk of spreading rabies, the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) website reported.
The ban applies to 113 countries, including Russia. According to U.S. experts, in these states there is an increased risk of infection of dogs by rabies
It is noted that the restrictions are necessary in order to ensure the health and safety of dogs imported into the United States, as well as to protect public health from re-entry into the United States of the canine rabies virus.
However, the document does not specify for how long the ban is imposed.
