The United States announced the imposition of sanctions against the Turkish Defense Industry Board, SSB, and four officials, including its head Ismail Demir. The reason was cooperation with companies from the Russian defense sector.
According to the Federal Register, the restrictions will take effect on April 7 and are adopted as part of the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA).
Due to the restrictive measures, SSB will not be able to export U.S. products or request loans exceeding $10 million. Officials will not be allowed to enter the U.S. and all of their assets in the territory will be blocked.
