U.S. jobless claims fall for sixth week in a row

Last week marked the lowest number since mid-March 2020.

New claims for U.S. unemployment benefits fell again last week, continuing the decline for the sixth week in a row, the Labor Department said.

A total of 376,000 unemployed people applied for benefits last week, down 9,000 from the revised figure from the week before, the department said.

This is the lowest number since mid-March 2020, when a pandemic gripped the country.

It’s also the second week the number of applications has stayed below 400,000, something that hasn’t happened in more than a year.
