The press-secretary of the White House Jen Psaki stated about the wish of the USA to ease tensions in relations with Russia.

Meanwhile, the U.S. and a large part of the international community believe that it is critically important to hold Russia accountable for its unacceptable actions, the White House spokeswoman added. “In terms of measuring the effectiveness of these measures, our goals: to reduce tensions in the relationship, to speak directly when we have concerns, to take action when necessary,” Psaki stressed.

At the same time, according to the U.S. spokeswoman, the United States does not see sanctions as the only tool for building relations with Russia and assessing their effectiveness.

Earlier, Russia’s presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that improving relations between Russia and the United States is possible only in the presence of mutual political will. According to Peskov, the statements of the U.S. authorities about their readiness to conduct a dialogue with Moscow contradict their steps, which are detrimental to relations between the two countries.
