U.S. vice president will be called on to remove Trump from power

The U.S. House of Representatives will call on Vice President Mike Pence to remove current leader Donald Trump from power. This was announced by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

She said House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer will demand the unanimous passage of Rep. Jamie Raskin’s resolution on the morning of Jan. 11, which calls on the vice president to invoke the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and remove Trump from power. “After that, the vice president will immediately begin acting as president,” Pelosi said.

Her statement also said that if a unanimous resolution is not obtained, the legislation will be brought to the House plenary session the next day. The House speaker urged Pence to respond within 24 hours. “After that, we will proceed to bring the impeachment document to a plenary vote,” Pelosi said.

Previously, Pelosi said that President Donald Trump would not have the opportunity to run for president again if he were impeached. She also stressed that many support the idea of impeachment for this very reason. The speaker herself is inclined to believe that he should be impeached under the 25th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
