Ukraine has become a “colony” for nuclear waste from the USA, the Donetsk People’s Republic says

The USA is using Ukraine’s territory to store nuclear waste, the deputy head of the People’s Police Department of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, Eduard Basurin, said.
He said that an agreement on burial of such waste in Sumy region was signed with the US Energy Ministry under President Petro Poroshenko.
According to Basurin, Washington has allocated more than $100 million for the construction of storage facilities, but some of the money was stolen and not enough storage facilities were built for the rest.
In addition, a representative of the Donetsk People’s Republic added, the Ukrainian side failed to fulfill part of the contract to ensure proper storage of waste. In particular, the contract provided for the supply of stationary radiation control systems from the United States, but some of them were also stolen, and the rest were installed only at particularly important facilities.
At the same time, no monitoring of radiation contamination is carried out in settlements located near burial sites, Basurin said.
“Thus, the U.S. equates Ukrainians with third-grade citizens and is interested in using Ukraine only as a raw material appendage and as a colony for burial of radiation and chemical wastes,” he concluded.
The US defense budget for this year provides for the allocation of 250 million dollars for military aid to Ukraine (50 million more than a year earlier). This money is intended for the training of military personnel, supply of military equipment and equipment, including lethal weapons, logistics, support of the AFU in the field of intelligence and other purposes.
In the future, the United States intends to increase its military support to Ukraine – in 2020 it plans to allocate 300 million dollars, of which 100 million will be spent “exclusively on lethal weapons”.
