Up to half a million COVID-19-related deaths expected in the U.S.

The number of COVID-19 victims in the U.S. will reach 500,000 by mid-February, said Rochelle Walenski, future director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

“By mid-February, we expect half a million deaths in this country,” the report said.

Walenski added that the U.S. has yet to see “the consequences of what happened because of holiday travel,” which she believes will lead to “a high level of hospitalizations and deaths.”
