US and French diplomats will come to Moscow to discuss the situation in Karabakh

US and French diplomats will come to Moscow to discuss the current situation in Nagorno-Karabakh.

It is known that from the Russian side the meeting will be held on November 18 by the Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Igor Popov. No other details are given about the upcoming event of the OSCE Minsk Group.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was surprised at the request of representatives of the US State Department about the details of the peace agreement on Nagorno-Karabakh. He called the Americans’ demands strange, since Moscow informed the Americans on the mentioned issue at the level of the Undersecretary of State.

Prior to that, the United States and France wanted more clarity from Russia on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as on Turkey’s role in ending the fighting. It was noted that the heads of the US and French foreign ministries acknowledged that the actions taken by Russia led to a ceasefire, but added that there are still many questions “requiring clarity from Russia regarding the parameters of this agreement.”

On November 9, the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan adopted a joint statement suggesting an end to hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh from November 10. The parties to the conflict stop at their positions. Azerbaijan will gain control over the territories of Aghdam, Gazakh, Kelbajar and Lachin regions. Russian peacekeepers entered the region.
