US fighters intercept Iranian airliner in the skies over Syria

US Air Force fighters on Thursday evening came close to the passenger to the Iranian passenger plane in the skies over Syria. The liner pilots were forced to make maneuvers, as a result of which three passengers and several crew members were injured. TASS reports.

It is noted that the board followed from Tehran to Beirut. After the incident, the plane successfully landed at the Beirut airport, where it refueled, and then returned to the Iranian capital.

Later, a video of the incident with American fighters and an Iranian passenger liner appeared on the Web.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry reported that it had sent information about the incident to the Swiss Embassy in Iran, which officially represents the interests of the United States in the Islamic Republic. In addition, the message was conveyed by the Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic to the United Nations (UN), Majid Takht-Ravanchi, to the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said this on Thursday.

The diplomat said that Tehran has begun to investigate the details of the incident. “Once full information is received, legal and policy measures will be taken,” he added.

At the same time, the Pentagon, commenting on the situation, noted that the interception was carried out by an F-15 fighter, which kept a safe distance from the passenger plane. Professional support was carried out in accordance with international standards, the department assured.
