US GDP in the second quarter of 2020 may decline by 20-30%. This was reported by the portal Euronews, referring to a statement by the head of the Federal Reserve System (FRG) US Jerome Powell.

It is noted that the unemployment rate may exceed 20%, although the financier has not yet specified exact numbers. According to him, today the most important economic indicator for the country is medical reports.

At the same time, Powell does not consider it legitimate to call the current situation, albeit difficult, “a new Great Depression.” In general, according to him, the US economy is quite healthy, the recession will be quite short, and over time the situation should return to normal.
