US wants to reduce Europe's dependence on Russian gas - Payette

The press service of the US Embassy in Greece published a statement made by Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt during the forum “Athens Energy Dialogues” regarding the need to reduce Europe’s dependence on Russian gas.

“U.S.-Greek energy cooperation should become even closer… The importance of Greece’s role as a driver of energy security and energy diversification in Southeastern Europe has been talked about many times in Washington… Importantly, major infrastructure projects such as the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline, the IGB pipeline with Bulgaria, the floating regasification plant in Alexandroupolis, the new gas interconnection between Greece and Northern Macedonia,… are changing the energy map of Europe and helping to reduce dependence on Russian gas,” Payette said.
