Venezuelan parliament speaker hospitalized with acute pneumonia

Venezuelan National Assembly Speaker Luis Parra has been hospitalized with acute pneumonia. This was announced by the MP José Brito, reports El Nacional.

“The condition worsened, and yesterday he was urgently hospitalized, we are awaiting the results of the PCR test for COVID-19,” he said. Parra was at home last week with pneumonia, and both rapid tests for coronavirus were negative.

Luis Parra took the seat of speaker of Venezuela’s unicameral parliament in January 2020, replacing opposition leader Juan Guaido, his term expiring in 2021.

As of July 20, in Venezuela, the coronavirus was detected in almost 12 thousand residents, 112 people died. The total number of COVID-19 cases in the world has reached 14.5 million.
