Walmart has stopped selling T-shirts labeled “All Lives Matter,” a phrase used to counter protesters with the Black Lives Matter initiative
This was reported by the American edition of The Hill.
The company said that products labeled “All Lives Matter” will be deleted indefinitely.
“We believe that all lives matter and everyone deserves respect. However, we came to understand that some people use the phrase “All Lives Matter” in the current environment, deliberately minimizing the emphasis on the painful reality of racial inequality, ”the statement said.
This decision was made after the company learned about the concerns of its customers and employees.
The company also faced a negative reaction on social networks due to the sale of goods with the inscription “All Lives Matter”.
Recall that earlier in Minneapolis, police detained a black man. During the arrest, one of the policemen used a choking technique, stepping with a knee on the man’s neck. At the same time, the detainee, 46-year-old George Floyd, repeatedly told the white officer that he could not breathe. Due to the brutal detention, the man died. An autopsy confirmed that the cause of death was strangulation.
On May 28, mass protests broke out in the United States against racism and police aggression related to the killing of black George Floyd by white policemen. On May 30, a number of protesters staged pogroms in stores.
Already on June 1, protests after the murder by police of black American George Floyd swept the whole country. Later protests began in Europe and around the world.
