The Pentagon plans to accept three types of combat robots for the wars of the future.

The new combat platforms will belong to three classes: light, medium and heavy. Their difference will consist in functionality, combat strength. They are created to take part in the fighting of the future. They are expected to have a wide range of capabilities – firing at the enemy, setting up smoke screens, and a number of other tasks.

"Apparently, the army expects the robots to be able to install smoke screens, detect and mark minefields, as well as combat chemical, radiation, biological and nuclear threats," the analyst writes.

At the same time, military experts believe the heavy robot will be able to resist the Russian T-14 Armat tank. It will be equipped with a large-caliber direct-fire weapon. Its weight will be at least 30 tons. The heaviest platform will have the longest service life and will be the most expensive among all the others.
