We’re experiencing a bit of wind today, but it’s dry and sunny.

ANGOR, Maine (WABI) The storm reached landfall in Cape Breton Island late last night. As a result, we’ll continue to witness impacts throughout the day in the days ahead as she continues to move north towards Labrador. The winds really started to speed up last night as Pressure gradient between our system of high pressure that keeps us dry and bright today and tomorrow and Fiona started to shrink. 

The winds will be constant at 15-25 mph with speeds as high as 55 mph, particularly in the areas downeast. On coastlines, the waves can be as high as 9-12 feet. This is why we’ve issued High Winds Warnings and High Surf Advisory. This High Wind Warning expires at 8pm tonight while the High Surf Advisory expires at 11pm this evening. Strong winds can cause fallen trees and limbs, as well as power outages , especially as the soil is saturated due to Thursday’s rainfall.

Apart from the waves and winds it’ll be a pleasant day today. High pressure brings us lots of sunshine today, and temperatures rise to the upper 50’s and lower 60’s. The winds will ease at night and we’ll be seeing overnight lows fall down to the lower to middle 40’s.Sunday high pressure will keep us dry and sun-kissed throughout the day. However, we do see a low pressure system forming out of into the Great lakes region late Sunday which will give us the opportunity to experience scattered showers in the coming days. 

Monday will be cloudy and with the possibility of sprinkles of showers during the course of the day. The low-pressure system is continuing to move towards the north and the showers will lessen towards Tuesday. When the rain stops Tuesday afternoon, we’ll dry out the rest of the week and through the weekend The high temperatures for the middle of next week should return to the lower to mid 60’s.

Today: Fiona impacts continue. Winds NNW gusting at up to 55mph. the strongest winds to the east. Rip current and high surf is expected on the coast. Highs of sun and clouds between 55 and 65

TONGIHT: Winds die down a little bit, we remain dry, overnight lows drop between 42-48. The winds are moving from the west at about 10-15mph, with gusts reaching 25 mph.

SUNDAY: Mostly clear with temperatures ranging from 63 to 69. The winds gradually diminish. A few showers in the late afternoon of Sunday night.MONDAY Cloudy, with showers. Temperatures in the range of 65-70 degrees.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy, with showers. Temperatures reaching the 60s.

Wednesday: Partly cloudy, with temperatures between 50s and 60s.

Thursday: Partly cloudy with temperatures in the 50s.

Friday: Mostly sunny with highs reaching the 50s and 60s.
