The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported a record number of cases of coronavirus in a week. More than 4.3 million cases were detected worldwide.
According to the organization, 4,329,927 new cases of infection with coronavirus were recorded from December 7 to 13. 75,038 patients died during this period.
The WHO added that “the main burden of the pandemic” was shared by regions in the Americas and Europe. They accounted for 85 percent of new cases and 86 percent of new deaths, TASS reported. Meanwhile, in the Americas, the increase in cases is still continuing, while in Europe, the situation is stabilizing.
More than 73.2 million people have been infected with the coronavirus during the entire pandemic, according to Johns Hopkins University. Of those, more than 1.6 million have died and about 41.4 million have been cured.
