Users of the old version of Edge can no longer use the web version of WhatsApp.
The team of the popular WhatsApp instant messenger, which is part of Facebook, made an unexpected step for users – they stopped supporting the old version of Microsoft Edge browser in the web client.
Microsoft has released a new browser Edge, based on the Chromium engine, in January. The old version of Edge made its debut with the launch of Windows 10 in 2015. Recently, the company got rid of the old version of Edge in the operating system – with the release of October 2020 Update Windows 10. Also Microsoft is going to gradually stop supporting the outdated Edge.
According to the developers’ statement, which is issued when trying to go to WhatsApp Web, users of the old version of Edge can no longer use the web version of WhatsApp. To access the messenger, it is recommended to install the latest Windows 10 operating system update or WhatsApp desktop application in the Microsoft Store online app store.
However, it is also noted that the web application works with the latest version of Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Opera.
