Popular avocado dishes these days have proven to be not just trendy, but very healthy. Researchers concluded that avocados protect the gut, benefit microflora, help break down fiber and reduce harmful acids.
The University of Illinois experiment involved 163 adults between the ages of 25 and 45 who followed a specific diet for 12 weeks. Half of the volunteers ate avocados at least once during the day.
Those who ate avocados showed a significant improvement in gut health on the test results.
In addition to these effects, avocados also help balance intestinal fats, making them worth including in weight loss diets. Scientists say that eating avocados daily can help keep gut microbes healthy and get a proper dose of potassium.
