Angelina Jolie visited a refugee camp in northern Burkina Faso on World Refugee Day. The Oscar-winning actress flew in a helicopter for the ceremony, accompanied by the Burkina Faso foreign minister.
The actress interacted with Malians in the camp, which is located in Goudébé. All of the refugees in that camp escaped jihadist violence.
“I have celebrated this day every year for 20 years with refugees in different countries. I’ve never been more concerned about the situation of displaced people in the world than I am today,” Angelina Jolie said at the ceremony.
The actress noted that states are not doing enough for both the refugees themselves and the countries that host them.
